College Dining Events – Marketing & Visual Design

Overview
As the Marketing Intern Supervisor for college dining events marketing, I was responsible for creating visually compelling and theme-driven flyers, posters, and social media posts to promote student-focused events throughout the academic year.

Objective
The main goal was to generate awareness and excitement around various dining hall events, from cultural food nights to holiday-themed meals. My task was to design materials that not only reflected the theme of each event but also captured student attention and encouraged participation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Designed print and digital promotional materials for campus-wide dining events.
  • Ensured each design aligned with the theme of the event (e.g., Halloween, Lunar New Year, Taco Tuesday).
  • Chose bold, eye-catching visuals, vibrant colors, and playful typography to spark interest.
  • Maintained consistency in branding across all formats (flyers, posters, digital signage, Instagram posts/stories).
  • Coordinated with the dining services and student engagement team to align messaging and scheduling.
  • Scheduled and posted content regularly on social media platforms to keep events top of mind.

Design Approach
To stand out in high-traffic campus areas, I focused on attention-grabbing visuals and clear messaging. Each flyer was designed to quickly communicate the “what, when, and where” of an event while visually representing the vibe—whether it was cozy and comforting for a fall dinner, or bold and festive for a cultural celebration. Typography was selected for readability from a distance, and designs were tested for clarity when viewed in both print and mobile formats.

Impact
The events were consistently well-attended, with strong student feedback citing the fun themes and clear communication as key reasons they showed up. Many students reported first learning about events from the flyers or social media reminders, confirming the effectiveness of the visual strategy. The creative marketing efforts helped transform routine meals into memorable campus experiences.
